The Evil Speaks - Resounding 2002

The Evil Speaks were a german Death-Rock band from the early 90s (and I have to mention that there's never been much Death-Rock in Germany, especially not 15 years ago, so they were something really particular). I think you don't need to listen to them very close to realise that they we're influenced by Christian Death, it sounds very similar and may be a perfect example of what deathrock is. They recorded some of they're songs in a studio but never released it and split up in 1993. Years later in 2002 leadsinger Frank Berg remastered these songs and released them as a CD-R called "Resounding 2002". There was also the option to download it (along with some live tracks) from an official site, but taken down again after a few years. Since I don't want this great music to get lost or forgotten I decided to rather upload it for you (and yes, these are the files that were available for download on the official site, I don't own any physical material by the Evil Speaks), here it is :

Coil - Scatology

This is the very first Album by Coil from 1984 and for me (together with the follower "Horse Rotorvator" from 1986, wich I'll upload too some time) one of the greatest records of the whole post-Industrial era. Complex experimental sounds but still very song-orientated, this one was far ahead of it's time and surely a big influence on many many bands after. I would even say that something like the Nine Inch Nails would have never been possible without the early works by Coil in the middle of the 80ies. Never getting the recognition they deserved John Balance (mastermind of Coil) sadly died in 2004 after falling drunk from the stairs at his home. After this tragical end of the project workmate Peter Christopherson went back again to his old friends to start a Throbbing Gristle re-union.
Note: This CD version (Discogs) also includes a hidden track called "The Wheel", wich was originally released 1987 on a 7", and two videos, one for the same track and the second for their dark, HIV-influenced interpretation of "Tainted Love" with a guest appearance by Marc Almond.

Ok, this is my last post about Mutter. The "CD des Monats" is their last official studio record to date. The sound seems to be influenced by 70's Krautrock and is very different from the previous releases. It starts with a 9 min. instrumental, followed by a 10 minutes track, much more complex than everything Mutter ever did before. The new version of the song "Wer ist das Mädchen" is very interesting too. Side B is a bit more song orientated, but still strange. The record includes a Bonus LP by frontman Max Müller with soundtracks he made for various movies and short-films. By the way: The Band is planning to release a new record towards the end of this year.

The CD "Konzerte 1986 - 1991" contains live recordings in bootleg quality from early concerts, interviews, comments on the band and strange stuff like answerphone messages by David Lynch, Jörg Buttgereit or Alfred Hilsberg. It was available at the official Mutter-site for a long time because of it's rarity, but was finally taken down on legal grounds

Next one: In 1994 the CD "Hauptsache Musik" came out on which the band tried to play a completly different style. Instead of loud&heavy stuff they recorded 21 beautiful accustic pop-songs. Of course many fans were fucked up by this. But I think it was about the time for an unpredictable band like Mutter to break their own rules and stereotypes, doing something new, not playing always the same style

The first record by this fantastic band. "Ich schäme mich Gedanken zu haben die andere Menschen in ihrer würde verletzen"-LP was released 1989 and re-released 1994 as CD with 5 bonus-tracks taken from various sampler-compilations. Both editions are out of print and very hard to find on Ebay. Difficult to describe the music, it sounds very trashy, slow (almost doomy) with a touch of Punk. You can also hear some elements of Campingsex in it (the previous band of these guys). Is Noise-Rock the right term for this?

Here it is: The Campingsex LP from 1985. Finest depressing Noise-Rock from Germany in the style of Flipper. The whole thing was re-released last year by Vinyl-On-Demand in a limited edition of 500 copies and with a bonus LP including a live concert and rare outtakes. Thurston Moore once said that Campingsex had a huge influence on Sonic Youth. A year after the LP was released frontman Max Müller, drummer Florian Koerner and early bass-player Frank Behnke formed the less punky, heavier band Mutter, wich still exists. I will also upload some of their rare stuff soon

Chaos Z - Dunkle Strassen

Chaos Z were one of the first and most influental hardcore bands in Germany. "Dunkle Strassen" includes all their recorded material.
The so called "punk-label" Weird System released this double CD with a copy protection that makes it impossible to play the CDs on your home computer. So I had to rip the CDs in the same way like my vinyls.
